Meet the artist event in Blue Hill

BLUE HILL — Everyone is invited to meet local artist Rebekah Raye and see her newly unveiled Treasures of the Peninsula bas-relief wooden sculpture at the Blue Hill Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 18, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Raye will be available during this time to discuss the creation process of this work and answer questions.

This sculptural artwork is made possible by a gift to the library’s endowment by Dr. Maxene Doty. The curved maple panel, custom-made by Mike Overton and Ben Mullane of Hewes and Company, fits onto the front of the desk in the Larchwood Children’s Room, at a level that invites small hands to explore. It features Eider ducks, a bear, a fox and other creatures from this local area of Maine, including a hermit thrush and a mother seal with pups.

For more information, contact the library at 374-5515.
