MDI Woman Indicted in Mortgage Scam

TREMONT — A local woman has been indicted in Ohio for her alleged role in a $14.7-million mortgage fraud case.

Charlotte Gill, 38, who is also known as Charlotte Yonque, was indicted Aug. 14 by a Cuyahoga County, Ohio, grand jury. Gill reportedly was living in Ohio and working as a real estate agent at the time of the alleged fraudulent activity.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gill after she failed to appear for her Aug. 28 arraignment in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. The warrant was recalled Sept. 3, after Gill’s attorney assured the court she would appear for an arraignment that was rescheduled for Sept. 9, according to Ryan Miday, public information officer for Cuyahoga County prosecutor Bill Mason.

The 96-count grand jury indictment names 11 other individuals, including the alleged ringleader, Susan Alt of Santa Monica, Calif.

“Susan Alt planned and orchestrated this fraud,” Miday said.
