Mariaville-Otis News of Neighbors

There is still an urgent need for workers to conduct the U.S. census in the towns of Mariaville and Otis specifically. Please call (866) 861-2010 for more information or to schedule an appointment for testing.

The Beech Hill 4-H Science Club welcomes Mariaville and Otis 5-8-year-olds to join them for hands-on science fun. Meetings are at the Beech Hill School on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 6 to 7 p.m. The club also welcomes adult community members to offer science-related presentations. Please contact Mary Gagnon (537-2560) or Stacie Easler (537-5202) with any questions. A communitywide Earth Day event is in the planning stage. Please watch for a future column with the latest updates.

Officer David Barnard of the Maine State Police was a recent visitor to BHS. He hopes to visit occasionally during the school year with the intent of establishing positive relationships with the students and the community at large.

Thank you to the 72 people who attended the After School Program’s annual Snowdown. The soup/stew/chowder cook-off had 11 entries. Soup a La Hancock offered by the Hancock After School Program won first place while the Ormsbys’ Polish Stew and the Montignys’ Ham and Spud Soup were tied for second place.

Please e-mail [email protected] or call 537-2200 with your community news.
