Main Street Building Coming Down

BAR HARBOR — The building that houses Atlantic Climbing School, at 198 Main Street on the corner of Derby Lane, is being torn down.

Owner Dana Pelletier received a permit to demolish the 100-plus-year-old building from the town in May. A small house on Derby Lane behind the building, also owned by Mr. Pelletier, already has been demolished. The Main Street structure will be rebuilt in a similar style, Mr. Pelletier said. “I think she had a broken back,” he said of the original. The new structure should be completed by spring, he said, and Atlantic Climbing School is welcomed back to the spot.
