Local Lore Locavore dinner in Surry

SURRY — The second Local Lore Locavore Night will be held as a fundraiser for The Gatherings in Surry on Saturday, March 3, at 5 p.m.

The event will bring people together to enjoy food grown or caught, and cooked, by our neighbors while hearing or telling tall tales of Surry.

During the dessert part of the evening, a group of residents will share stories, some familiar, some new, of life in Surry past and present. The storytellers will include Ida Grindle Reed, Jane Smith, Johnny Curtis, Joy Small and Marge Longwood.

Members of The Gatherings will cook up lobster stew, vegetarian baked beans, roasted root vegetables, coleslaw, green salad, Bacardi rum cake, blueberry cake and more.

Maine apple cider will be available and adults can bring their own wine or beer. Lobsters are being donated, and other food will come from local gardens and farms.

The suggested donation is $20 per person. Reservations are required.
