Library Hosting Film, Opera Talk



BLUE HILL — The Friends of the Blue Hill Public Library Film Series continues on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. with “Godspell,” a musical portraying the Gospel of Matthew in modern (1970s) Manhattan.

All films are shown free of charge in the library’s Howard Room.

The library will also be hosting an opera preview event on Friday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m.

Verdi’s “Aida” comes to The Grand in Ellsworth on Saturday, Dec. 15, by live simulcast from the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

Local opera enthusiasts Linda Lesko and David Porter will summarize the plot, introduce the music and give some ideas of special ways to enjoy the simulcast. All are welcome and no previous opera knowledge.
