BLUE HILL — Hiking in Blue Hill just got more exciting thanks to the Blue Hill Consolidated School and community members who erected letterboxes on four trails.
The letterbox project was created as part of the 2008-2009 schoolwide citizenship theme at the consolidated school as a gift to the Blue Hill area.
Each letterbox contains a stamp and a logbook.
Each letterboxer carries a small notebook, which they stamp with the letterbox stamp. Letterboxers also carry their own stamp, which they use to mark the letterbox logbook.
Healthy Peninsula gave the school a grant as well as carabiners for all the students and maps detailing hiking trails on the Blue Hill Peninsula.
