Lecture Scheduled on Evolution

BAR HARBOR — Randolph Nesse, a psychiatrist and director of the University of Michigan’s Human Adaptation Program, will give a public lecture on “Evolutionary Medicine: The Great Opportunity” at the Mount Desert Biological Laboratory (MDIBL) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16.

In the early 1990s, Dr. Nesse and other researchers first began discussing the possibility that physicians could better understand human disease if disease were looked at through an evolutionary prism.

The talk, which is designed for the lay public, is part of the first JAX-MDIBL Joint Scientific Symposium.
