Leadership Hancock County goes digital

ELLSWORTH — Leadership Hancock County, which for a decade has provided training to local business managers, directors, owners and employees, will be offered in a digital workshop format this year.

“We are excited about our session lineup and the wonderful facilitators who have agreed to present this year,” stated Gretchen Wilson, director of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and program coordinator for eight years. “This is an opportunity for our alumni to refresh their leadership learning, and a wonderful chance for others to get a taste of the LHC program.”

The program is usually a five-month intensive during which facilitators guide a small group. Each daylong session is hosted at a business or organization representing an economic sector of the region. Participants take class in the morning in leadership topics such as effective meetings, communication styles, management skills and more. The afternoon session is devoted to an in-depth look at the host organization or business. The class takes a tour and learns how the business or organization fits into the economy of Hancock County. To date, over 45 organizations and businesses have hosted Leadership Hancock County and the program has well over 100 alumni.

With the continued pandemic restrictions, the program

is doing a sixworkshop series for 2021. The 1.5-hour programs will be presented on the Zoom platform beginning Jan. 12 and continuing through May 4. Each session will be held on a Tuesday starting at 10 a.m. The schedule is as follows:
