WHITNEYVILLE — The Downeast Coastal Conservancy and the Downeast Salmon Federation are seeking volunteers to help with property stewardship and monitoring.
Interested volunteers are invited to a workshop at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at the Hillgrove Community Hall in Whitneyville. The workshop will focus on property monitoring and other stewardship-related volunteer opportunities.
The first portion of the workshop will take place inside for a discussion of the importance of monitoring, what is involved in a monitoring visit and other types of stewardship work the organizations do. Following the discussion, the group will head out to the Machias River Preserve for a more practical discussion about monitoring and stewardship and go through a monitoring visit in the field.
The workshop is free and open to anyone. Snacks and coffee will be provided.
