Hunter safety course scheduled

BLUE HILL — The Blue Hill Public Library is again hosting the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s firearms safety course for hunters.

This course will be offered as both a home study course and an online course. Each version consists of two parts.

The home study participants must attend both scheduled sessions, Friday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and complete home-study work between the two meetings in order to obtain a certificate.

The online course participants must complete an online portion of the course and only need to attend in-person for the second full-day session (field day) held on Oct. 27.

This class is required for anyone applying for a hunting license for the first time, or it can also be taken as a “brush-up” course.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age and all minors will be required to have a signed parental consent form, available at the first session. The course is free.

Registration is required and can be done through the library’s events calendar or by calling the library at 374-5515.
