Hotelier Witham Buys Comfort Inn

ELLSWORTH — Bar Harbor hotelier David Witham, who has been snapping up hotel properties the way some women buy shoes, has just added the Comfort Inn on High Street to his holdings.


The sale was complete Aug. 14.

In July, Witham purchased the Hampton Inn, which is being built on Route 1 in Ellsworth by developer Maine Course Hospitality Group. The Hampton Inn is expected to be finished by spring of 2010.

In May, Witham made two hotel purchases: the White Birches hotel, restaurant and golf course in Hancock from Dale Hadlock and the Best Western in Salisbury Cove.

In February, Witham purchased the Quality Inn and Aurora Inn in Bar Harbor.

The Witham Family Limited Partnership also owns the Bar Harbor Inn, Atlantic Oakes, Grand Hotel and Acadia Inn in Bar Harbor.
