BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island Historical Society’s ninth annual bean supper is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23, from 6-8 p.m. at MDI High School.
The event will feature a presentation by Liam Riordan, professor of history at UMaine, on “Maine Statehood and the Bicentennial: The View from Mount Desert Island.” There will also be a meet and greet with the society’s new executive director, Raney Bench.
Local community bakers will present a variety of beans accompanied by hot dogs, coleslaw, pickles, brown bread, cookies and pies.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The supper is open to the public.
