HCPC selling composting bins

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Planning Commission is sponsoring a backyard composting bin sale.

The Earth Machine backyard composting units are an effective way for households to compost yard and leaf waste as well as uncooked vegetable food scraps. They are black and made of 100 percent recycled plastic. The bins are 33 inches wide and 35 inches tall. They cost $46 each and include a “how to” guide.

A composting workshop will be held later this spring.

Orders will be taken through March 22. Payment by check or cash is required by the order deadline.

Bins may be picked up at the HCPC offices, 395 State St., Ellsworth, on Friday April 26, and Saturday, April 27.
