WINTER HARBOR — A dog’s life is not so bad. Take Roo, the English hunting cocker spaniel “daughter” of Lia Reed of Winter Harbor.

The pooch, who summers on Grindstone Neck, celebrated her third birthday party at J.M. Gerrish & Provisions Aug. 23. More than 20 partygoers feasted on ice cream while “Mac” and “Galley,” both Labradors, “Lana,” a Chihuahua, and her cousin “Rascal,” a papillon, shared gift biscuits and bones with the birthday girl. Yellow
balloons decorated the deck.
