Grief support begins Oct. 2



ELLSWORTH — Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County is offering support groups for individuals and families who are grieving the death of a loved one, starting in October.

Grieving the death of a loved one is complex and can be very hard to manage. Connecting with others who are experiencing similar things can be very helpful. These support groups are free of charge and designed to meet the needs of those grieving different types of losses.

Support groups by topic begin as follows.

Widows and Widowers, Thursday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m.

Those Who Have Lost a Loved One through Suicide, Monday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.

Adults Who Have Lost a Parent or Sibling, Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m.

Those Who Have Lost a Veteran, Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. at the Ellsworth VFW.

Parents Who Have Lost a Child, Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 3:30 p.m.

Those Who Have Lost a Loved One to AIDS, Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. at DownEast AIDS Network, Ellsworth.

The groups run for six-to-eight consecutive weeks. Groups are held at the Ellsworth office of Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County unless otherwise noted.

Registration at least one week in advance is required.
