Greenlaw to speak at meeting May 28

ELLSWORTH — Linda Greenlaw, America’s only female sword fishing captain, and the author of three New York Times bestselling books about life as a commercial fisherman plus several cookbooks and mysteries, will be the guest speaker at the Hancock County Planning Commission’s 43rd annual meeting on May 28.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Ellsworth Public Library meeting room (enter lower level).

While this is the annual business meeting of the Planning Commission, during which the agency budget and work plan will be adopted and new executive board members elected, the public is welcome to attend.

“We are very pleased to have Linda Greenlaw speak about her experiences as a commercial fishing captain,” said Planning Commission Executive Director Tom Martin. “The fishing industry is in a state of transition and faces serious challenges. We welcome this opportunity to learn more about the marine sector, which is an important part of the Hancock County economy.”
