Grand holding pair of auditions

ELLSWORTH — The Grand is holding auditions for its August production of the musical “A Year with Frog and Toad” on Thursday, June 24, from 5:30-7 p.m. and Sunday, June 27, from 1-3 p.m. The auditions will be held at The Grand.

A Broadway hit musical, “A Year with Frog and Toad” was nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel’s well-loved books, and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends — the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad — through four fun-filled seasons.

The character range is ages 20 to 60 years old. Those planning to audition should prepare 16-32 bars of a classic musical theater song. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist, with the part you are singing clearly marked. A capella singing or karaoke tracks are discouraged. Be prepared to list any rehearsal and/or performance date conflicts. You may be asked to sing or read from the script as well as learn a quick dance piece.

Performance dates are Aug. 6-8 and Aug. 13-15 on the grounds of Woodlawn Museum.
