Golfers Wanted for Schoodic Scramble

ELLSWORTH — Co-sponsors Edith Dixon and Alan Goldstein invite golfers to participate in the 14th Annual Schoodic Scramble, scheduled for Sept. 17 and 18.

The tournament will be played at two beautiful coastal courses, Grindstone Neck in Winter Harbor and Blink Bonnie in Sorrento.

Proceeds will benefit the Eleanor Widener Dixon Memorial Clinic in Gouldsboro. This outpatient clinic of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital provides a vast array of medical services to the Downeast community and to the residents and guests of the Schoodic Peninsula.

Last year the clinic provided health care services to 3,603 patients.

The entry fee is $85 per golfer ($77 tax-deductible) or $340 for a team of four. The two-day tournament offers $3,000 in prize money and giveaways. Prizes will be awarded for Men’s A & B, Women’s and Couples categories. New this year, golfers have the option to purchase mulligans for their team and to test their skills in the “pot o’ gold” contest.
