Gardening talk in Castine Sept. 10

CASTINE — Heather McCargo of Wild Seed Project to speak about “Why Going Native Matters” on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wilson’s Museum’s Hutchins Education Center in Castine.

The talk is being sponsored by the museum and the Castine Garden Club.

Native plants in our landscape are immensely important. In fact, they are the foundation of the terrestrial food chain upon which all land-based creatures, including ourselves, ultimately depend.

Wild Seed Project is a nonprofit organization founded in 2014 to ethically collect and sell seeds of wild and uncultivated forms of native plants and to educate the public.

The program is free and open to the public.
