Free Croquet Lessons Offered at Woodlawn

ELLSWORTH — The next free beginners’ croquet lessons will be offered on Saturday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn with a follow-up session set for Saturday, July 11, at 10 a.m.

Golf croquet is open to the public at Woodlawn (the Black House) each Tuesday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.

Nonmembers of Woodlawn Croquet are asked to contribute $5 toward court maintenance costs.

The basics of the game can be learned in about five minutes. A social time is held following play.

Woodlawn also will be hosting the second annual Maine/New Hampshire Six-Wicket Croquet Tournament Thursday through Sunday, June 25-28.

The tournament attracts top players from both states and the public is invited to attend and watch the croquet competition.
