Flower Power

Trenton artist Trish Worthen’s painted poppies, peonies and other blooms pop off the wall at the Wine Cellar Gallery in Ellsworth. A reception honoring her work will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1, in the gallery located downstairs at John Edwards Market. Worthen, who has drawn and painted much of her life, studied with botanical illustrator Linda Funk. She works in watercolor and with colored pencils. She also practices the ancient Asian technique of grinding ink by hand on a small stone and tea-dying rice paper. Her brush paintings of pines are on view too. “My enduring wish is to have fun with art,” she says.
