Fisheries Talk Set in Blue Hill

BLUE HILL — Fisherman-scholar Ted Ames, whose fisheries research was recognized with a MacArthur “genius” award, and Aaron Dority, director of the Downeast Groundfish Initiative at Penobscot East Resource Center, will be speaking at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m.

The talk is being sponsored by Blue Hill Co-op Community Market and Café.

Recent changes in fisheries management are having an impact on local fisheries. The speakers will focus on the innovative work that Penobscot East Resource Center is doing to ensure a future for eastern Maine fishing communities, while supporting the dock-to-consumer supply of fresh, locally caught seafood for area residents.
