ELLSWORTH — A fire of unknown origin destroyed a shed and two vehicles at a Sunset Park Road residence Sunday night.
Sunset Park Road is off the Mariaville Road.
Ellsworth Fire Chief Jon Marshall said a shed workshop adjacent to the house, which held a Jeep and a motorcycle, caught fire around 10 p.m.
The wind was blowing away from the house, but there was enough radiant heat generated from the fire to spread to a garage attached to the house and melt the vinyl siding, the chief said.
The house sustained external damage, but the shed and its contents are a complete loss, the chief said. The residence belongs to Rob Shea.
The Mariaville Volunteer Rescue and Fire Department were called to help.
The city of Ellsworth does not have hydrants in the area, so water was drafted from one of the neighbor’s ponds, the chief said.
The fire was under control in about 90 minutes, he said.
