BAR HARBOR — The final First Friday Art Walk of 2014 will take place on Oct. 3. The event has brought a myriad of talented artisans and fabulous events to Bar Harbor this year, and the final collection is no exception.
In the Bayside Landing courtyard, peek into A Little Mad to check out the debut of “Stormy x Alive,” a new collection of edgy and unique jewelry. Stroll up Main Street to Katahdin Photo Gallery to view an array of beautiful photographs of the area by owner Steve Bart.
Venture up Mount Desert Street, and stop in at the Anne Woodman Gallery to meet the designer herself, as well as painter Barbara Shelley. At Spruce & Gussy, visit with Jennifer Judd-McGee, a local artist of national renown who will have new small pieces of original art, as well as some of her designs on home goods. A little farther up Mount Desert Street, you will find a special exhibit of photographs by local artist Earl Brechlin at the Jesup Memorial Library.
Down along the waterfront, you can meet Maine sculptor David Smus at Art on West and view his new model for bronze casting, a trio of red foxes called “Kit & Caboodle.” Just upstairs at Gallery with a View, listen to Wendilee Heath play the Japanese Koto and view her art.
This is just a sampling of the fantastic happenings all over town, so pick up a Walking map with a full listing of the evening’s events. Maps are available at the Chamber of Commerce on the corner of Cottage and Main, at any participating gallery and at most lodging establishments.
This is a fun and dynamic event, so make it a date and enjoy a lovely evening celebrating Bar Harbor’s Art and Fine Craft.
