CASTINE — A movie screening and discussion of “Love Free or Die” with film director Macky Alston is scheduled for Monday, July 23, at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Castine.
There will be a pre-party at 5:30 p.m., followed by the screening and discussion at 7.
Tickets are $20.
Premiered this year at the Sundance Film Festival and winner of the Special Jury Prize, “Love Free or Die” is about a man whose two defining passions are in direct conflict: his love for God and for his partner Mark. Gene Robinson is the first openly-gay person to become a bishop in the historic traditions of Christendom. His consecration in 2003, to which he wore a bullet-proof vest, caused an international stir, and he has lived with death threats every day since.
Tickets are available at the Adam Gallery in Castine.
