ORLAND — A benefit “Powdah and Chowdah” event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands.
Participants are invited to grab their skis, snowshoes, snowmobile or hiking boots (whatever conditions allow) and spend a morning of winter family fun in the Wildlands. The event then continues at MacLeod’s Restaurant in Bucksport for a benefit chowder and chili buffet between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The cost for the buffet is $15 for adults or $10 for children under 12. The cost includes salad, coffee and dessert. A cash bar will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust. Pre-registration for the lunch is required by Feb. 11. Seating is limited. A full moon ski/hike is also scheduled in the Wildlands on Friday, Feb. 22.
Plans are to meet at the North Gate (Bald Mountain Road, 0.2 miles west of Winkumpaugh) at 6:30 p.m.
The hike is about 1.2 miles round trip. All ages are welcome.
