Events Scheduled In Wildlands

ORLAND — On Saturday, May 21, Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust and the Penobscot Valley Star Gazers Club are hosting an evening of spring stargazing in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands.

Those planning to attend should come to the South Gate on Route 1 (just south of the Route 176 intersection) in East Orland at 8 p.m. and drive in.


Blankets, light chairs and plenty of warm clothing are recommended and binoculars, star charts, telescopes, planispheres and other astronomical gear are welcome.

There will also be an early morning walk in the Wildlands on Sunday, May 22, with Connie Tuller.

Walkers should meet at 6:30 a.m. at the Dead River Gate (Don Fish Trail, 0.5 miles beyond Craigh Brook National Fish Hatchery in East Orland).

Walkers should bring sturdy footwear and breakfast. All ages are welcome.
