Ellsworth Police: Displaced Husband Seeks Advice

ELLSWORTH — A local man, locked out of the house by his wife, called police Sept. 23 for advice. The man ended up spending the night elsewhere.

Officer Dan Owens suffered minor injuries after crashing the department motorcycle on Red Bridge Road while trying to stop a speeding vehicle Sept. 22, police reported.

The motorcycle left the road after Owens failed to negotiate a corner at Red Bridge Road and Mill Dam Road, Sgt. Glenn Moshier said.

Lt. Harold Page said the motorcycle sustained $11,000 in damage. Owens was back to work Tuesday.

Maine State Police Sgt. Alden Bustard handled the investigation but was unavailable for questions before press time.

A pickup truck left the road and came to rest in a stream below the roadway after a motorist lost control on a corner of Mill Dam Road Sunday, police said.

Paul Hewes, 17, of Ellsworth was driving a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck, which sustained an estimated $1,500 in damage, police reported.
