Ellsworth Historical Society Selling Books for Fund-raiser

ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Historical Society is selling copies of its pictorial history book to benefit the society’s ongoing restoration and other efforts.

Through words and pictures, the book presents an overview of Ellsworth past and present. The book provides a glimpse into the city’s past, an examination of its properties on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as a profile of four community individuals.

The book is 144 pages long and contains 200 photographs.

The book originally sold for $39.95 but can now be purchased for $10.

To purchase a copy, send a check or money order for $15 ($10 for the book and $5 for shipping and handling) to: The Ellsworth Historical Society Pictorial History Book, P.O. Box 355, Ellsworth, ME 04605.

Orders also can be placed for pick-up by calling Linda at 667-5716 or Terri at 667-8235.

The society is currently preparing to repair its building’s brick facade, roof, gutters, windows and more this summer. Donations are always welcome.

The society is open Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment at the Old Hancock County Jail and Museum at 40 State St. in Ellsworth.
