Ellsworth Football League Plans Registration Day Aug. 8

ELLSWORTH — Football for Ellsworth continues to move closer to reality.

The Ellsworth Football League will hold its official registration day on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the field behind the Family Bible Church on Route 3, across from WalMart.

In the first year of play, approximately 75 youngsters are expected to compete on three teams.

Les Ranco will coach grades 7-8, Bill Smith and Matthew Martin will coach grades 5-6 and Joel Horne will coach grades 3-4.

Individual registration fees will be $75, and after the players have registered on Aug. 8, coaches plan to hold some drills and testing in throwing, punting and running.

Players also will be able to purchase jerseys at the time of registration for an additional $20, but there will be a separate session planned for the distribution of equipment.

Food and beverages also will be available to those attending the registration session.

The league is continuing is effort to raise funds in support of the new program.
