ELLSWORTH — The Maine State Chamber of Commerce and other organizations are hosting a Hancock County Business Leaders Economic Summit on Early Childhood.
The meeting will be held Monday, April 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hancock County Technical Center on Boggy Brook Road.
Dr. Erik Steele, vice president and chief medical officer of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, will give a talk on “The Science of Early Brain Architecture.”
Dana Connors, president of the Maine State Chamber, will follow with a talk titled “The Economic Benefits of Investing in Young Children.”
Maine’s first lady, Karen Baldacci, is the guest speaker.
Jeanie Mills, who led Child and Family Opportunities for many years, will give a perspective on early childhood issues in Hancock County.
The United Way of Eastern Maine and the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital as well as Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities are sponsoring the event.
