Dumpster Debate Continues

MOUNT DESERT — Talking trash proved to be a hot topic for selectmen Monday. After a lengthy discussion, they voted to remove the three trash Dumpsters near the Seal Harbor treatment plant. The heavily utilized containers were moved to the location last month following a citizen’s complaint about their prior location off of the village’s Main Street.

The vote to remove came after trash left around the dumpsters blew over the treatment plant fence and into the plant’s aeration tank causing a clog in a $6,000 pump.

“I think we’d just be a lot better off ridding ourselves of these things,” said town manager Mike MacDonald.
