Dr. Elizabeth Zentz Joins Blue Hill Family Medicine

BLUE HILL — Elizabeth Zentz, MD, began accepting new patients at Blue Hill Family Medicine on May 5.

Elizabeth Zentz, MD
Zentz is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and specializes in primary care, women’s health and geriatrics.

Zentz received her bachelor’s degree from Baldwin-Wallace College, majoring in psychology and social studies. She received her MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed her internship and residency at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Mass.

Prior to beginning her medical training, Zentz taught in public schools in Park Ridge, Ill., and Arlington, Mass.

“Teaching is a big part of medicine,” said Zentz, explaining her career transition. “Medicine felt like a natural step to me, as I’d wanted to be a doctor since I was in high school. Back then, women were discouraged from becoming physicians.”

Zentz worked at Acton Medical Associates in Acton, Mass., from 1987 until retiring to Deer Isle in December 2008. Zentz also served as the medical director of New England Deaconess Nursing Home in Concord, Mass., from 1997 to 2005.
