Dock User-Fees Top Discussion

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — No clear mandate for changing town dock user-fees emerged Tuesday during a forum on commercial use of the facilities by businesses.

About 18 people, many of them fishermen, attended the forum in the meeting room of the Southwest Harbor Fire Station.

The issue has been bandied about by selectmen and the town’s harbor committee for several years, fueled primarily by complaints from two lobster dealers with businesses on the harbor about out-of-town lobster dealers buying from fishermen off the town docks.
