Deer herd culling Proposed

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — At Monday’s meeting of the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission, Paul Richardson asked that considering the prevalence of Lyme disease whether it was time to eliminate the deer herd.

Commissioner Ben Emory asked whether the commission should take on the issue. Commission chair Steve Katona asked the park to prepare a briefing statement for the next meeting so that the issue could be dealt with through the commission’s science committee.
