Dark Sky Fest to Begin

BAR HARBOR — A host of activities are slated for locations across Mount Desert Island next week as the first-ever Acadia Night Sky Festival gets under way.

The four-day celebration begins on Thursday, Sept. 17 and runs through Monday, Sept. 21. Children’s story times, planetarium shows, hands-on exhibits, artist’s panels, and stargazing sessions with Acadia National Park rangers are planned.

The festival is billed as a community celebration of Mount Desert Island’s pristine night skies. This natural resource will be promoted through education, science and the arts over the course of the four-day event.
