Cranberry Isles Man Gets 15 Years for Child Porn



BANGOR — An Islesford man who used hidden video cameras in bathrooms to film his girlfriend’s daughter was sentenced in U.S. District Court Wednesday to 15 years in prison.

U.S. District Judge John Woodcock also ordered Daniel Poulin, 44, to undergo sex offender treatment while serving time in a federal prison.

Mr. Poulin was convicted on a charge of producing child pornography in September. The videos were made over a period of time in 2006. The victim was under the age of 18 at the time.

According to U.S. Attorney Gail Malone, Mr. Poulin did not comment during his sentencing. The victim did read a statement detailing the detrimental effect the clandestine filming had on her and her family, Ms. Malone said.

Mr. Poulin has been in state custody since his conviction. He is to be moved to a federal facility.

According to Ms. Malone, Mr. Poulin has filed an appeal of his conviction. The details of the appeal have not been disclosed, she said.
