MILBRIDGE — Washington County Council of Governments Executive Director Judy East has announced the promotion of Regional Planner Crystal Hitchings to the position of destination development director.
“Ms. Hitchings has proven herself as an exceptional promoter of the Bold Coast Region and has developed solid working relationships with businesses, chambers, municipalities and schools to help us all see this beautiful region in which we live through the fresh eyes of an eager new visitor,” East said.
As destination development director, Hitchings will continue her role as administrator for Downeast Acadia Regional Tourism, which includes both Washington and Hancock counties.
She also will continue to coordinate with the Maine Office of Tourism in the destination development process.
Destination development is a collaborative effort by a community or group of communities to successfully attract and retain visitors and new residents through coordinated improvements to transportation, attractions and services such as dining, lodging and retail as well as information, signage and branding and promotion.
