Contract for SERC Demolition Awarded to Caribou Firm

WINTER HARBOR — An $896,000 contract to demolish and remove 14 buildings and move one structure at the Schoodic Education Research Center (SERC) was awarded to Soderberg Co. Inc. of Caribou, according to Acadia National Park Superintendent Sheridan Steele.

The plan to create a more campus-like atmosphere at SERC, which is located on the former Navy Base at Acadia National Park at Schoodic, will be paid with $4.9 million in federal economic stimulus funds set aside for Schoodic.

Work is expected to begin within the next few weeks.
