CHERRYFIELD — The Down East Photography Group will host a presentation on contemplative photography at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21.
Presenter Thom Blackstone will discuss the contemplative process in both the making of a photograph and its interpretation.
Mindfully freezing a fraction of a second of the human experience creates not only better pictures but also more meaningful ones, said Blackstone, who is also a Methodist pastor. He spent part of his 2018 sabbatical at the Maine Media Workshops and College in Rockport, followed by a 10-day silent retreat at a Benedictine monastery in Colorado.
The event takes place at the Maine Seacoast Mission, Cherryfield. It’s free for members and $5 for nonmembers, who can apply the charge to a membership.
