Conservancy to host 7-mile race

WHITNEYVILLE — The annual Bad Little Trail Run is set for Saturday, Oct. 5.

Participants can enter either the 7-mile run or the 2.5-mile run/walk. Both races start and end in Whitneyville and both courses include stretches along the Machias River under giant hemlocks, through grassy swales and over rocks, roots and bog bridges.

After the race, participants can enjoy an awards ceremony, food and a general celebration complete with a fire pit.

Participants are asked to being a food item to share and a folding chair, if desired. Because the race is co-sponsored by the Downeast Coastal Convervancy, which seeks to limit waste, participants are also asked to bring their own cups, plates and flatware. The Bold Coast Runners are also race sponsors.

Runners will receive a commemorative item and top finishers will be given award plaques.

Participants can register the day of the race or online through Oct. 4 at downeastcoastalconservancy.org/bad-little-trail-run.
