Community Forum On 9/11 Scheduled



BAR HARBOR — All members of the Mount Desert Island community are invited to share their personal reflections on the events of Sept. 11, 2001, during a community forum scheduled for Sunday at Reel Pizza.

A diverse panel of speakers will be moderated by University of Maine Cooperative Extension professor and WERU radio show host Ron Beard.

Speakers will include Judith Goldstein, director of Humanity in Action, state Rep. Elsie Flemings (D-Bar Harbor), Omar Conteh from the Outreach Committee of the Islamic Center of Maine, former Iran hostage Moorhead Kennedy, the Rev. Victor Stanley of the Somesville Meeting House, and MDI firefighters and other first responders.

Following the forum, the public will be invited to spend two hours giving hands-on assistance to local organizations that serve the needy and build community.
