SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Warrant committee member Sandy Johnson reported the committee’s recommendations on the 2010-2011 budget to selectmen Tuesday, February 23rd.
The goal of the committee was to keep the budget flat except in lines where expenses are not controllable, such as salaries and benefits, Ms. Johnson said. The $3.22 million municipal budget recommended by the committee is $10,378 less than that proposed by selectmen.
Ms. Johnson said the committee recommends that voters at the annual town meeting in May approve more than $165,000 in funding requests from community service agencies. The requests include $56,345 for Harbor House, $45,000 for the Southwest Harbor Public Library, $46,092 for the Southwest Harbor-Tremont Nursing Service and $10,000 for Island Explorer bus service.
