City roadside clean-up kicks off April 25

ELLSWORTH — On Sunday, April 25, the Ellsworth Green Action Team, an active part of Green Ellsworth in collaboration with the city of Ellsworth, will kick off the fourth annual citywide roadside clean-up. This event is an opportunity to participate in the roadside clean-up at your convenience and to help beautify city roads by removing unsightly litter, trash and potentially dangerous discards.

The weeklong event will run from Sunday, April 25, through Sunday, May 2.

Interested participants can pick up free yellow trash bags and sign-up for road segments at City Hall during regular business hours, beginning Monday, April 19. All participants should wear boots, work gloves and bright clothing. Trash bags can be left on the road shoulder in safe, but visible locations. Please report the location and number of trash bags to Marcia Monk at 669-6619 for disposal by Ellsworth Public Works.

Participants are encouraged to separate trash and redeemable bottles and cans into separate bags. Redeemable bottles and cans may be donated to the SPCA of Hancock County, located at 141 Bar Harbor Road in Trenton.
