Cider Pressing Day In Brooklin

BROOKLIN — The “Bountiful Harvest” farm tours sponsored by the Blue Hill Co-op conclude with a special event at 5 Star Nursery & Orchard on Saturday, Oct. 18.

A Community Cider Pressing Day will be held at the Brooklin orchard from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tim Seabrook and Leslie Cummins of 5 Star Nursery & Orchard have scheduled four pressing sessions for the day. Each session will be two hours long.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring sound, unsprayed, washed bushels of apples and very clean gallon-size jugs to collect the cider.

Each bushel will create about 3.5 gallons of cider.

There is a small fee of $1.50 per gallon to offset running the cider house. Otherwise, the event is free.

Registration is required. To register and for directions, contact Mia Strong at 359-8572.
