CASTINE — The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Castine will hold its first annual Harvest Supper on Tuesday, Sept. 22, the day of the autumn equinox.
The event’s purpose, according to the Rev. Mark Worth, is both to celebrate the harvest season and to raise funds in support of the local food pantries in Blue Hill and Bucksport.
The event will take place at the Manor Inn, with a social hour/cash bar scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Local singer and performer Juliane Gardner will provide music. A buffet supper will be served at 6:30.
The menu will feature local fare, including a choice of roast chicken, a lobster pasta dish or a vegetable medley, followed by apple crisp and coffee.
The price is $29.
Those attending will have the opportunity to contribute financial support to the two food pantries.
Because local fare needs to be ordered earlier than usual, reservations should be made as soon as possible, but no later Sunday, Sept. 20, by calling 326-4861 or e-mailing [email protected].
