Church of Life and Praise Hopes to Start Construction in Spring

ELLSWORTH — The Church of Life and Praise is preparing to start construction on a new church building this spring.

The congregation has been meeting at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church since a fire destroyed the Church of Life and Praise building in July 2008.

Pastor James Heard has been working with a visionary committee for several months to plan a new facility.

Visionary Committee Chairman Tim Leathers and the church’s architect, Ellen Angell of Ames A/E Architects and Engineers in Bangor, were to meet with the Ellsworth Planning Board Wednesday, Jan. 6.

The proposed building, at 14,000 square feet, is larger than the previous, which was 8,000 square feet. The church is rebuilding on its five-acre lot, which is next to Ellsworth High School.
