ELLSWORTH — On Nov. 21, the Ellsworth Chess Club held its annual Thanksgiving Chess Tournament at the Ellsworth Public Library.
Mark Woida of Mount Desert Island came in first with a perfect 4-0 record. Dick Powell of Ellsworth finished second while Cameron Wendell of Sargentville placed third.
Peter Goebel of Lamoine and Steve Votey of Seal Harbor tied for fourth.
There will be no chess this week due to Thanksgiving, but the club will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ellsworth Public Library. Anyone is welcome to participate. There is no fee and boards and sets will be provided.
