Charity success

ROCKPORT — The 3.1-mile Islesboro Crossing open water swim that recently benefited LifeFlight of Maine was the brainchild of Mount Desert Island High School and College of the Atlantic graduate Jessie Davis, a former resident of Bar Harbor. The event was designed to illustrate the effort and teamwork that is crucial to the success of Maine’s emergency medical services network. The swim is one of the longest open water events in New England.

This year, registrations stand at 66 swimmers, and almost $50,000 was pledged.

Davis is married to Daniel Bookham, who performed as radio personality “Elvis Parsley” on Bar Harbor-based WMDI.
